Privacy policy

PingPing LLC (“PingPing”, “we”) publishes a free newsletter for life-science researchers. This page explains what we collect when you subscribe and what we do with it.
What we collect
- What you give us: your email address, and optionally your first name and your field of interest.
- What our systems record at signup and confirmation: the date and time, your IP address, your browser type, and the page or link you signed up from. We use this to prove that a signup and confirmation happened and to block abuse.
- Email delivery data: whether a message was delivered, bounced, or reported as spam, and whether you unsubscribed.
- Link clicks: when you click a link in a newsletter email, we record which link, when, your browser type, and a scrambled form of your IP address that cannot be turned back into the address. We use this only to count clicks, and sponsors see totals only, never who clicked. We do not track whether you open an email.
This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not use analytics scripts on it.
How we use it
- To send you the confirmation email and, once you confirm, the PingPing newsletter.
- To personalize greetings and, in the future, to choose which topics to send you.
- To keep the list clean and protect it from abuse, including honoring unsubscribes, bounces and complaints.
Sponsors
Some newsletter modules are written and paid for by sponsors and are always labeled as sponsored. Sponsors do not receive your email address or any other subscriber details from us. If you click a sponsor’s link, you leave our site and that company’s own privacy policy applies.
Who handles your data for us
We use service providers to run the newsletter: an email delivery provider (Mailgun) to send messages, a web hosting provider to run this site and store the subscriber list, and Cloudflare for domain name services and email forwarding. They process data only to provide those services to us. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your subscription record while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so that we never email you again by mistake, and we keep the record of your signup and confirmation as evidence of consent. You can ask us to delete your other details at any time.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email. It works in one click.
- Ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you by writing to hello@pingpingresearch.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy law, and we will honor them.
- Report abuse or a signup you did not make to abuse@pingpingresearch.com.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), limit who can access the subscriber list, and rate-limit signups to prevent misuse. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
The newsletter is written for working adults and is not directed to children under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, tell subscribers by email.
